Autumn Term
And here are some of the activities that 6 Vivaldi got to do last term:
For Charities week this year, 6V and 6B chose to raise awareness and money for Dementia UK by making mugs to be sold at the Christmas Fair. Throughout the week, they learnt about the disease – one of the ways they have done this is through researching and then creating an information leaflet.
They also read a book, Weeds in Nana’s Garden, to explore the impact dementia can have on patients and their families. Using their literary skills in creative writing to develop empathy, they then re-told the story. Their mathematical skills were also applied when they needed to help Nana redesign her garden after she accidentally pulled out the flowers. The children had to use their knowledge of area to help Nana replant her bulbs.
In October, 6V and 6B had the great opportunity of visiting the centre of our democracy, the Palace of Westminster. Mr Jones, Ms Edwards and Ms Foster along with parent helpers accompanied them on this important visit. With wonderful guides, they entered both the House of Commons and the House of Lords and had the opportunity to participate in a workshop on how laws are made along with a question and answer session with a Lord!!! There are definitely some budding politicians among our 6V and 6B children.
